BAC 167 “StrikeMaster” KJ66 Turbine Powered Semi Kit.

Successful first engine runs today proved no great problems. Idle EGT at 36000 RPM is up from the “normal” 490C to 580C due no doubt to the 900mm tailpipe that is now fitted, but rear fuselage skin temperature was quite acceptable given no secondary ducting. Full power set to 112,000RPM raised EGT to around 630C with good thrust, but will probably set max power at 117,000RPM when we test fly in 2 weeks.

All up weight finished at 10.45Kgs (23lb 4ozs) dry, with facility on board for 86ozs of fuel.

Semi kit components on display. Small components at wing roots are Intake cheeks and wheel well liners.

20 years of concept and 14 months of work finally achieve the goal.

The nose section showing access to fuel, gas and air points, TCU data, retract pressure, battery monitor.

Ample room for BVM UAT, GB Electronics Full Autostart TCU, Pump and valving sits on top of 2 DuBro 40oz tanks, main carbon fibre spar can be seen just below the KJ66’s on board starter.
